Curtin: Indrus: Real-time Asset Tracking System Using Existing Camera Infrastructure

In global logistics, one problem continues to cost millions. Identifying valuable cargo is like finding a needle in a haystack. This is due to large industrial facilities such as ports, yards, and distribution centres, relying on time consuming methods to keep track of thousands of untagged assets. To find one of 2000 identical vehicles in a port, a worker is required to physically locate the asset manually on foot, a timely and costly process.

That's why Curtin University students, graduates of Curtin University's business development program Ignition developed Indra, a software solution that turns standard security cameras into powerful digital tracking tools.

Indra works by mapping every camera pixel to exact GPS coordinates as assets move across different cameras.

They're assigned a unique ID and tracked seamlessly throughout the entire facility, a digital twin. Is then produced giving operators complete visibility for better planning, faster processing, and the elimination of costly manual inspections.

The team is currently working with a US facility to validate their MVP through a commercial pilot deployment.
