Uni of Queensland: Hacking the future

The future is going to be more technology intense than the past, and so anything and everything we do today will be influenced by technology, and I think it's the most profound skill anyone can have.

If you start at UQ today, the job that you're going to work in probably hasn't been invented yet, and chances are that the technology you'll be working with doesn't exist today.

In order to thrive in the future, we have to develop human skills, public speaking, working in teams, creativity, engaging with other humans. Because those are skills and capabilities a machine is very unlikely to replicate. We actually ask our students to turn emerging technologies into business practice.

We've looked at using blockchain technology for good. We've used AI to address climate change. If I had to pinpoint one common denominator. That makes every student successful, then I would say it's tenacity and being comfortable with discomfort.
